The Overstory

The subject matter is vital, Powers is a talented author, and the characters are well-wrought. But my god, there is just too much in here to make for joyful reading. There are so many idols to be killed and plotlines to be cut. A classic 'less than the sum of its parts' novel. It did, however, fundamentally shift my view of trees and nature.
